I plan on using a 36" 10 000 CFM (SD36-G1D) in a spray booth roughly 10' x 10' x 8' high. Would this fan be too big for this application?
Thank you for your question. I think that 10,000 CFM will be too much for your application. According to our calculator, to turn the air over every 1 minute, you only need about 1000 CFM. However, in practice, you will need more than that. I would recommend our 24" variable speed unit. You can then have exrta capacity if needed, but could turn it down as well.

If you are spraying anything other than water based products in the booth, you will need an explosion proof fan. They are only offered in 1 speed however.

With either unit, you will want to filter the air going into the fan as they will get fouled with whatever you are spraying very quickly. I would reccommend building a open sided box out of 2x4, attaching hepa style furnace air filters to the open sides, and securing it to the wall between your booth and the intake side of the fan. -
Is it possible to run a large activated carbon panel filter on the intake side of the fan for odour remediation?
These fans are not designed to work efficiently if much static pressure is present in the space. Depending on the density of the filter, it may or may not work well with this fan.
-
can this fan be used for a powder coating booth
This fan should work well for this application, as long as there are no flammable / ignitable fumes being created in this space.
-
Is the outside louver cabinet welded / secured permanently to the fan motor mount support or can it be removed. i would like to replace the existing one with a new P36-7 and keep the exterior louver cabinet.
The shutter housing is solid but you can remove the guard and the motor and the fan blade.

i want to use to exhaust a pole barn. temp can get over 120 degrees. can this fan handle hotter temps?
This fan, like most fans, has an ambient temperature rating of 104 deg. F. Since air is moving over the motor as the fan is exhausting, this helps to cool the temperature of the motor.

Can i use a speed cotroller on this fan ?
This fan has a single speed motor. It is On or Off only.
