Aeration Process
Regenerative blowers are utilized by a wide spectrum of industries for aeration applications – it is an effective way to introduce oxygen while circulating liquid materials. The design of a single stage regenerative blower is surprisingly simple. Unlike positive displacement machines that trap air and force it to move, regenerative blowers move air by utilizing non-positive displacement that allows air to pass over a blade and then propelled forward by another blade, flowing into the blower through one port and out through another port.
Regenerative Blowers
Regenerative blowers, sometimes referred to as ring compressors or side channel blowers, are particularly effective at controlling ventilation and maintaining good air quality, wherever airflow is needed for cooling, aspirating, ventilating, exhausting, and conveying. When it comes to aeration, ventilation, air circulation, and air movement in the home, workplace, or industry, the benefits of regenerative blowers are many, but at the top of the list is their small size in proportion to their ability to operate at high efficiency. Additionally, they are quiet and create very little vibration.
Single Stage Regenerative Blower Aeration Applications
There are a wide variety of industries and applications that are well-suited to regenerative blower aeration processes, from Koi Fish Breeders to Municipal Waste Water Treatment Facilities, to Fast-Food Restaurant Chains. Here are some of the ways various industries utilize regenerative blower aeration in their day-to-day operations:
Hydroponic Aeration – Circulation of nutrients is crucial in successfully growing decorative and edible plants without soil. Aeration distributes nutrients for maximum root growth while reducing or eliminating root rot.
Pond/Tank Aquaponics Aeration -- Both large and small fish farming operations depend on regenerative blowers to provide consistent aeration and oxygen supplies to fish. Residential hobbyists and commercial decorative ponds also prefer regenerative blowers to other aeration methods.
Aerobic Aeration -- An integral part of the majority of biological wastewater treatment systems, aerobic aeration is necessary to allow bio-degradation of pollutants and to speed up the process of recycling of potable water by providing oxygen to algae. Aerobic aeration is an eco-friendly solution to wastewater treatment.
Anodizing Tank Aeration -- Anodizing (the electro-chemical process in which a protective or decorative oxide layer is chemically built on the surface of aluminum metal) requires mixing of the tank ingredients to expedite the anodizing process and create a consistent oxide layer.
Hot Tub Aeration -- Aeration through spa jets offer therapeutic benefits and also help maintain water clarity and integrity in both residential and commercial settings.
Grease Trap -- Regenerative blowers aid in the process of grease separation and breakdown that is crucial to recycling or disposing of grease waste from restaurants and other industries.
Airlift Pump -- Useful for a variety of applications, such as providing aeration to fish farms by discharging directly over the water surface. Airlift regenerative blower pumping utilizes a ‘venturi-like’ principle to pick up fluid, making thicker fluids easier to distribute.
Industrial blowers are essential for the operation of industries and manufacturing processes that require aeration processes and they have applications that encompass residential, commercial, and industrial utilization.
Other Practical Applications for Blowers
Proper ventilation, air circulation, and air movement are crucial for indoor air quality (IAC) management, whether the application is in a residential, workplace, commercial, or industrial setting. Ventilation and air circulation removes particulates, gasses, excess humidity, and harmful VOCs from the air, creating a healthier environment, while also reducing the growth of mold and mildew, and removing dust, debris, and contaminates from areas of production. Common methods of ventilation and air circulation are the use of exhaust fans, shop fans, industrial fans, high velocity fans, and regenerative blowers.
Who Should You Use Regenerative Blowers?
Wherever high airflow and low vacuum-pressure applications are required, regenerative blowers are an ideal solution. Any type of facility that can benefit from increased aeration, ventilation, air circulation, and better indoor air quality, such as building owners, shop owners, business owners, building maintenance, general contractors, installers, corporations, and procurement personnel for government purchases should consider upgrading to regenerative blowers for air movement.
